Grisix - Living the gaming life, and beyond...
About me
Gamer since 1980..
Started with Dungeons & Dragons 1st Edition. Like so many, I got hooked after reading a few times in a row the Lord of the Rings books, and finding a magazine Jeux et Strategies #4. My first game was at the CRJH (Club Rouennais des Jeux d'Histoire), au Centre St Sever, in Rouen (France), where my first character was a 15 level ranger playing "Against the Drows" with Jean Jacques P. as the DM and a table of around 15 players, 3 or 4 of which I still pay with regularly to this day!....
We then played a variety of other Role Playing Games when 2nd Edition came out (Rolemaster, Runequest, Space Opera, Pendragon, Reve de Dragons...). I started computer games with Arcade games like Space Invaders, Asteroids or Lunar Lander, and then Apple II games, like lode Runner or Prince of Persia.
I played a lot of boardgames during my college years (Sword and Sorcery, Freedom in the Galaxy, Cosmic Encounter, Warrior Knights, Talisman...) as well as RPGs.
With a friend, Patrick C., we founded a RPG Gaming Club at Universite Jussieu in Paris (Les Seigneurs de L'Astrolabe), and later with many others, like Serge O., Franchis P., Bennis B., Alexis T., we created a RPG fanzine named Le Farfadet.
Later, with RL obligations, I dropped out of gaming for a while. I still managed to sneak a few games here and there, playing from home, including the awesome Ultima Online Beta, or F15 Strike Eagle, Counterstrike, Warcraft, Starcraft, or Ghost Recon...
Thanks to Magic the Gathering, Wizards of the Coast brought me back fully into gaming, and then to the United States to work there. Beyond Magic itself, I played a lot of video games like Warbirds II, IL2, , or NeverWinter Nights, on which I spent two years coding a team-PvP Mod called NWTactics.
In the last 10 years, the games that got me hooked online were World of Warcraft, Company of Heroes, Eve Online, Battlefield II, COD Modern Warfare 2 while I was resuming playing D&D PnP, first under 3.5 then 4th Edition, and recently to 5th Edition, as well as boardgames like Twilight Imperium, and more recently Star Wars: Rebellion.
Still playing today, of course
